October is the month where we ask ourselves whether or not Foulab is haunted. Come by the lab for these events and participate in the fun!
Cleaning and Organization Day - Sunday October 4th @ 12:00 - 20:00
We’ll be gathering on this date to clean and organize Foulab. If you’ve ever been to Foulab, you know this is no small task. The more people, the merrier. To show our appreciation, we’ll order food for the cleaning and organization crew.
Cleaning and Organization Days occur monthly on the first Sunday of the month.
No Net Night - Tuesday October 6th @ 18:30 - 23:00
No Net Nights are a monthly ritual where we gather to do activities in the lab that don’t require Internet access. It is a good time to socialize with Foulabbers, host a LAN party, check out the library or hunt for ghosts in the retro-computing museum.
Mesh Night - Wednesday October 7th @ 19:00 - 22:00
Mesh Nights are a recurring monthly event, normally hosted on the first Wednesday of each month.
At the Mesh Night, we will be talking about and experimenting with mesh networking technologies such as Meshtastic, MeshCore, and Reticulum.
Beginners are welcome to drop by, we are happy to answer your questions and demo our devices for you.
Hosted by photon303
Origami Night - Thursday October 8th @ 20:00 - 22:00
On the open night of October 8th, we’ll be doing some origami (the Japanese art of folding paper). This event is for those who want to learn origami and people who are already origami enthusiasts.
We normally work through a few patterns, teaching each other what we know. Paper is provided.

Project Night - Tuesday October 13th @ 20:00 - 22:33
Project Night returns!
Every once and a while we like to gather to show off and celebrate the projects that we’ve been working on. Anybody who has been working on something is invited to share their work with the everybody in attendance. Presentations can informal or formal with slides and a demo.
Montreal Anarchist Tech Convergence After Party Part I - Saturday October 17th @ 19:30 - 24:00
The Montreal Anarchist Tech Convergence returns this year. Foulab will be host to the after party on both days of the event.
This is a great time for local folks who’ve never been to Foulab to check us out. For those traveling for the conference, it’s also a great chance to visit one of the first hackerspaces (est. 2009) in Canada.
We will provide beverages and snacks but you are also encouraged to bring your own.

Foulab Monthly Meeting - Tuesday October 20th @ 20:00 - 21:30
We will discuss Foulab business during the open night of August 19th, 2026. All of our meetings are open to the public, so even if you are not a member, you are welcome to attend the meeting and learn how we operate. It is also a great opportunity to become involved.
Free Software Social - Thursday October 22nd @ 19:00 - 22:00
Linux, BSD, Firefox, Python, Signal, Git. This is the night to chat to about your favourite non-commercial and open-source software. Install Linux (or an even more obscure free OS!), get help from the community, or drop by to hang out with other free software enthusiasts.
This event was formerly known as the Linux social, the name has changed to reflect that all non-commercial and non-proprietary systems are welcome, except those written by fascists of course. We especially appreciate software that is produced socially by humans and for humans.
The event starts at 19h (7pm), allowing time for people to settle in and socialize. At 20h (8pm) we will host a round of lightning talks. Anyone is welcome to present any FOSS-related topic in less than 5 minutes. The theme is Show off your [set-up, hardware, tool you use, program you’ve made, anything you’re proud of]
Noise Hacking Night - Friday October 23rd @ 20:00 - 23:00
This is a night dedicated to sound synthesis and mutation, using hardware and software. People are encouraged to bring their own noise-makers, plug them in, and join in on the noise-making mayhem!
These are the recordings from previous sessions.
Fediverse Night - Wednesday October 28th @ 19:00 - 22:00
Whether you’re a developer of fediverse software, an instance admin, a user, or just fedi-curious, join us at the monthly Fediverse Night for discussion about decentralised social media.
This is a recurring thing, hosted on the last Wednesday of each month.
