Brrr… on long cold nights such as these… it is always right to huddle next to your local CPU for warmth and company with those in your community… Don’t miss out on all the events in this busy March.
Wednesday Mesh Evening - Wednesday March 5th @ 19:00 - 22:00
This is your sign to come join us in building the most expansive, elaborate, decentralized, alternative network Montreal has ever seen!
The Wednesday Mesh Evening is a Wednesday evening event dedicated to mesh networking in all its forms. From discussing it, researching and testing alternative network topologies, to practical exercises in deploying peer-to-peer infrastructure in FOULAB and around it.
Everyone is hosting, and kryma invites you to host as well. Join the network!
Infrastructure Night - Tuesday March 11th @ 20:00 - 22:00
Join us as we dive into FOULAB’s “cinderblock” OPNsense firewall, its setup, administration, and maintenance.
FOULAB’s Infrastructure Nights are small, bite-sized lectures and workshops on Foulab’s internal IT infrastructure - how it works, how to use it, and how to fix things that inevitably go wrong in it.
Brought to you by eigma, this will be sure to increase your appreciation of the space and what goes into maintaining it!
Gentoo Night - Thursday March 13th @ 20:00 - 22:00
Have you ever wondered what goes into crafting Linux installs tuned for your specific devices and needs?
Wonder no more, and join us on March 13th as hairu presents their infrastructure for managing Gentoo with build scripts!
Sewing Orientation Workshop Night - Tuesday March 18th @ 20:00 - 22:00
Have a growing pile of clothes that need a bit of love, be it pants that need a bit of a hem, or holes that you’ve been meaning to patch, but just haven’t felt comfortable around the arts of the fiber and cloth?
kida is here to come to your rescue, hosting a workshop walking through getting started using a sewing machine, making something simple (a pencil case? a pouch?) and tips and tricks to get you started on your mending and making.
FOULAB Monthly Meeting - Thursday March 20th @ 20:00 - 21:30
This month, we’ll be discussing the workshop reorganization (the light at the end of the tunnel is there!), the museum reorganization, life at the lab, and keeping on keeping on.
Share your ideas, your projects, and your thoughts on the future of Foulab. Your input is important to our future!
Killed by Dice presents: Classic Traveller - Sunday March 23rd @ 16:00 - 20:00
We will be starting a monthly game of Classic Traveller, using the bare bones rules from 1977/1980. The first event will include character creation and some orientation. There are a few open spots,
contact david AT killedbydice.com if you are interested.
Tabletop Open Gaming Night - Tuesday March 25th @ 20:00 - 22:00
Open gaming night returns this month.
We usually play Warhammer 40K, with One Page Rules. Melee, Wizard, and Battle Line are also available. Others are encouraged to bring games they want to play. Warhammer? Magic the Gathering? Risk? Mouseguard: Swords & Strongholds?
The Roombening - Saturday March 29th @ 15:00 - 20:00
In the far year of 2025, Robots rule the world, and AI superintelligence can generate pictures that seamlessly blend into our reality. If you’re 2025 ou may have a corporate robot in your house right now. Let’s hack it and make it our own! As corporobots gain sentience, the importance of self-reliance when it comes to hosting of infrastructure becomes more important than ever…
This event is an old-fashioned hackparty dedicated to all sorts of cleaning robots. We’ll be assuming direct control of our Roombas through hidden maintenance ports and installing the custom firmware Valetudo on any compatible machine that we find.
Bringing a cleaning robot that supports Valetudo is required if you want to install it!
